- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
- 2 cups cooked pasta (elbow macaroni, penne, or rotini)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese (optional for creaminess)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
- Drain and set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and garlic, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
- Drain excess grease if needed.
Step 3: Prepare the Sauce
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, and seasonings (Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, paprika, red pepper flakes) to the cooked beef.
- Stir well and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes to blend the flavors.
Step 4: Assemble the Casserole
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, sour cream, ricotta cheese, and half of the shredded cheese.
- Add the beef mixture and stir until everything is well coated.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
Step 5: Bake
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
