  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For Homemade Croutons (Optional):

  • 2 cups French or sourdough bread, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Croutons (Skip if using store-bought croutons)

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Toss the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Spread them evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  4. Remove from the oven and let them cool.

Step 2: Make the Caesar Dressing

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together minced garlic, anchovies, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while whisking to emulsify the mixture.
  3. Stir in mayonnaise, salt, and black pepper, mixing until creamy and well combined.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Step 3: Prepare the Lettuce

  1. Wash and dry the romaine lettuce thoroughly.
  2. Chop or tear it into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Place the lettuce in a large salad bowl.

Step 4: Assemble the Salad

  1. Pour the prepared Caesar dressing over the lettuce.
  2. Toss gently to coat the leaves evenly.
  3. Add the croutons and Parmesan cheese, then toss again lightly.

Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!

  1. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
  2. Garnish with extra Parmesan shavings and a few cracks of black pepper.
