Description

Cake pops are delightful bite-sized treats that combine the moistness of cake with a sweet, crunchy coating, all presented on a convenient stick. They’re perfect for parties, gatherings, or simply as a fun dessert to enjoy at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  • 12 oz chocolate candy melts (choose your preferred flavor)
  • 24 lollipop sticks
  • Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

Prepare the Cake:

  1. Follow the instructions on your cake mix box to bake the cake.
  2. Ensure the cake is baked correctly; avoid overbaking to prevent dryness.

Mix the Cake:

  1. While the cake is still hot, transfer it directly into the bowl of a stand mixer.
  2. Using the paddle attachment, mix the cake on low speed until it forms a dough-like consistency.

Form the Cake Balls:

  1. Portion out the dough into small, even-sized balls using a cookie scoop or your hands.
  2. Press each portion firmly to form a smooth ball.
  3. Place the formed cake balls on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Chill the cake balls in the freezer for at least 30 minutes.

Melt the Chocolate:

  1. Melt your chocolate candy melts according to the package instructions.
  2. For easier dipping, use a tall, narrow container for the melted chocolate.

Assemble the Cake Pops:

  1. Dip the tip of each lollipop stick into the melted chocolate, then insert it about halfway into each cake ball.
  2. Return the cake pops to the fridge or freezer for a few minutes to allow the chocolate to set.

Dip the Cake Pops:

  1. Once the sticks are securely attached, dip each cake pop into the melted chocolate, ensuring full coverage.
  2. Gently shake off any excess chocolate.
  3. While the chocolate is still wet, decorate with sprinkles if desired.
  4. Place the dipped cake pops upright in a styrofoam block or a box with holes to allow the chocolate to set completely.
