Ingredients

Scale

For the Salisbury Steak:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

For the Gravy:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into 4 oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté the chopped onion for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens.
  5. Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, spooning gravy over the top. Cover and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until fully cooked through.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley, over mashed potatoes, rice, or alongside your favorite vegetables.
