This hearty and creamy kielbasa potato soup is the ultimate comfort food. Packed with smoky kielbasa, tender potatoes, and a velvety broth, it’s perfect for a cozy family dinner or a chilly evening. This simple one-pot recipe will quickly become a household favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) kielbasa sausage, sliced
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups (720ml) chicken broth
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Kielbasa: In a large pot over medium heat, cook the sliced kielbasa until lightly browned. Remove from the pot and set aside.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: In the same pot, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until fragrant and softened.
  3. Prepare the Base: Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth until smooth.
  4. Add Potatoes and Simmer: Add the diced potatoes to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  5. Add Cream and Kielbasa: Stir in the heavy cream, smoked paprika (if using), and the cooked kielbasa. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve: Ladle the soup into bowls, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.

Enjoy the warm, creamy goodness of this kielbasa potato soup!
