For the Beef Marinade:
- 1 lb (450g) beef (sirloin, flank steak, or ribeye), thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp ginger powder
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
- 1 tbsp water
For the Noodles & Vegetables:
- 8 oz (225g) noodles (lo mein, egg noodles, or spaghetti)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1/2 cup snap peas or snow peas
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
- Fresh cilantro or basil (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Beef
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain for a tender texture.
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, garlic powder, and ginger powder.
- Toss the beef slices in the marinade and let it sit for at least 15-20 minutes.
Step 2: Cook the Noodles
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the noodles according to package instructions.
- Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking, then set aside.
- Step 3: Make the Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey, crushed red pepper flakes, and water.
- Stir until well combined and set aside.
Step 4: Stir-Fry the Beef
- Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned.
- Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
Step 5: Cook the Vegetables
- Add another tablespoon of oil to the wok.
- Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the bell pepper, carrot, and snap peas, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes.
Step 6: Combine Everything
- Return the cooked beef to the wok.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture and toss to coat everything evenly.
- Add the cooked noodles and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
