Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (optional)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- ½ cup shredded cheese (optional, for topping)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
- Wash, peel, and dice the potatoes into small cubes.
- Chop the onion and mince the garlic.
- If using canned tomatoes, drain excess liquid.
Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Drain any excess fat if needed.
Step 3: Sauté the Aromatics
- Add chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet.
- Sauté for 2–3 minutes until onions are soft and translucent.
Step 4: Add Potatoes and Seasonings
- Stir in the diced potatoes, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and oregano.
- Mix well so the potatoes absorb the flavors.
Step 5: Add Liquid and Simmer
- Pour in beef broth and canned tomatoes (if using). Stir to combine.
- Cover the skillet and let it simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender.
- If the liquid reduces too quickly, add more broth or water.
Step 6: Final Touches
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- If using cheese, sprinkle it over the dish and let it melt.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
