- ½ small onion, chopped
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
- ¼ cup water (adjust for desired consistency)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Tomatillos
- Remove the husks from the tomatillos and rinse them under warm water to remove any sticky residue.
- You can either use them raw or roast them for a deeper flavor.
Step 2: Roast the Tomatillos (Optional for Extra Flavor)
- Heat a dry skillet or a baking sheet under the broiler.
- Roast the tomatillos for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until slightly charred.
- Let them cool slightly before blending.
Step 3: Prepare the Avocados and Other Ingredients
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a blender.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, lime juice, cilantro, jalapeño, and cumin (if using).
Step 4: Blend Until Smooth
- Add the roasted or raw tomatillos to the blender.
- Blend everything until smooth, adding water as needed to adjust consistency.
Step 5: Taste and Adjust
- Taste the salsa and adjust salt or lime juice as needed.
- If you want more spice, blend in extra jalapeño or serrano.
