Instructions
Step 1: Caramelize the Onions
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 20–25 minutes until deep golden brown.
- Stir in garlic and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
Step 2: Cook the Beef
- Push the onions to the side and add beef sirloin or ground beef to the skillet.
- Brown the beef on all sides, breaking it up as needed.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, pepper, and thyme.
Step 3: Add Broth and French Onion Soup
- Pour in beef broth and French onion soup.
- Stir well, ensuring all ingredients are combined.
- Let simmer for 10 minutes to develop flavors.
Step 4: Cook the Noodles
- Meanwhile, boil egg noodles according to package instructions.
- Drain and set aside.
Step 5: Combine Everything
- Stir in the cooked noodles and heavy cream or sour cream for a creamy texture.
- Sprinkle shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese on top.
- Cover with a lid and let the cheese melt.
Step 6: Serve and Garnish
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
