Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices Texas toast or thick garlic bread
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion softens and the garlic becomes fragrant.
- Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
- While the Sloppy Joe mixture is cooking, toast the Texas toast or garlic bread in the oven at 375°F (190°C) until crispy. Optionally, spread butter on the bread before toasting.
- Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture over the toasted garlic bread slices and top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Place the sandwiches back in the oven until the cheese melts, about 3-5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
