- 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for spice)
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (for thickening, optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Combine soy sauce, mirin, and sake in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir well.
Step 2: Add honey (or brown sugar) and whisk until fully dissolved.
Step 3: Stir in rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and chili flakes (if using).
Step 4: Let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.
Step 5: For a thicker consistency, mix cornstarch with a tablespoon of water and add to the sauce. Stir until thickened.
Step 6: Remove from heat, strain if desired, and let cool before transferring to a container.
