Wet Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons (45g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon (12g) white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg yolk (no whites)
Add-ins:
- 1/3 cup (60g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or your favorite kind)
- Optional: chopped nuts, M&Ms, or sprinkles
Instructions
π― Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Set your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat for easy cleanup.
π₯ Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Whisk until fully combined and smooth.
Add the vanilla extract and egg yolk only (not the egg white!). Mix well until the mixture is silky and slightly thick.
π§ Step 3: Stir in Dry Ingredients
Sprinkle in the flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Mix gently with a spatula or spoon until just combined β avoid overmixing!
π« Step 4: Add the Chocolate Chips
Fold in the chocolate chips (and any optional add-ins). Your dough should be thick but scoopable.
πͺ Step 5: Scoop and Bake
Scoop 4β6 equal-sized dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
Bake in the preheated oven for 9β11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked (theyβll set as they cool).
Let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
