Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour, cocoa powder, and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is soft and elastic.
Step 2: Let the Dough Rise
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
- Let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
Step 3: Make the Cinnamon Filling
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and cinnamon.
- Spread softened butter over the rolled-out dough.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture evenly over the dough.
Step 4: Roll and Cut the Dough
- Roll out the dough into a 12×18 inch rectangle.
- Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the surface.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side.
- Cut into 12 equal rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
Step 5: Second Rise and Baking
- Cover the rolls with a clean towel and let them rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Step 6: Make the Cream Cheese Frosting
- Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until creamy.
- Spread over warm cinnamon rolls.
