For the Seasoned Beef:
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup water
- 1 packet (or 2 tbsp) taco seasoning
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp cumin
- Salt & pepper to taste
For the Seasoned Rice:
- 1 cup white rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp cumin
- 1 tsp taco seasoning
For the Burrito Assembly:
- 4 large flour tortillas
- ½ cup nacho cheese sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup taco sauce (optional)
- ½ cup refried beans (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Seasoned Beef
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef.
- Cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking up the meat with a spatula, until browned.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Add the water, taco seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Let the beef simmer for 5 minutes until the flavors are well blended. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Seasoned Rice
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Add rice, butter, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, and taco seasoning. Stir well.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes or until rice is tender.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
Step 3: Heat the Tortillas
- Warm the flour tortillas in a skillet over low heat for 15–20 seconds per side.
- Alternatively, microwave them for 10 seconds to make them more pliable.
Step 4: Assemble the Burritos
- Lay a warm tortilla flat on a clean surface.
- Spread 2 tbsp of nacho cheese sauce in the center.
- Add 2 tbsp of refried beans (if using).
- Spoon about ¼ cup of the seasoned rice on top.
- Add ¼ cup of the seasoned beef.
- Drizzle with 1 tbsp of taco sauce (optional).
- Add 1 tbsp of sour cream and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Step 5: Wrap the Burrito
- Fold in the sides of the tortilla towards the center.
- Roll the burrito tightly from the bottom up, securing all the fillings inside.
- Place seam-side down and repeat with the remaining tortillas.
